Guitar Workshop

Rock 'n Roots

Fingerpicking

Old Town School of Folk Music, Chicago

Sunday March 6, 2011 2pm

The R&B stars of the 1950’s were one of the roots of Rock ‘n Roll to come. Faye Adams, Ruth Brown, LaVern Baker, Jackie Wilson and Little Richard were in the vanguard. They also had something else in common: They all recorded a slow, bluesy number called “Shake A Hand” . This song hit #1 on the charts and later was revived by Elvis, Paul McCartney and the Texas roadhouse singer, Lou Ann Barton.
We’ll learn a fingerstyle arrangement of this song (and another) where we blend in the melody, harmony and chords together to give a full “Chord Melody” sound. And, we’ll learn to slide and slur, all following tab notation. If you aren’t a singer, but you just want to build your guitar skills…this is for you. For intermediate or advanced fingerstyle players who want to expand their repertoire.

REGISTER NOW Price: $20 773-728-6000 or, at http://www.oldtownschool.org/
