Guitar Workshop

Fingerpicking Swamp Styles
2pm Sunday Oct 11, 2009
Old Town School of Folk Music, 4544 N. Lincoln Ave., Chicago
The “Swamp Sound” from southeast Texas and Louisiana is one of the roots of rock & roll. 1950’s and ‘60’s artists like Cookie Thierry, Fats Domino, Ivory Joe Hunter and Dale & Grace influenced performers from BB King to the Rolling Stones. With strong melodies, an R&B backbeat and undulating bass lines, Swamp songs make for great instrumental guitar fingerpicking. Blaise will teach songs using tab notation and techniques for sliding & slurring notes and maintaining a bass theme. For intermediate or advanced fingerpicking levels.
